Screen shot 2011 11 08 at 1.51.03 PM Attending DC Week? So Are We!

This week the nation’s capital is the host to the second annual Digital Capital Week, a week long gathering of  tech innovators, entrepreneurs, designers and developers that aims to examine the ways that tech, government, the non-profit sector and other areas intersect.  With over 10,000 registered attendees, this is obviously one of the most visible gatherings of digital thought leaders in 2011.

What makes this conference particularly interesting is it’s focus on leveraging emerging technology to improve how government functions and serves it’s constituency, an area that has notoriously been slow to adopt new tech.  From addressing ways to improve government’s data transparency to leveraging that data via apps that improve our lives, these are worthy explorations that could change … Keep reading

Following up on post we did back in August giving a breakdown of Redbox’s mobile initiatives by the numbers, I’m extremely happy to announce that Signal and Redbox won the highly coveted Forrester Groundswell Award for our highly effective 10 Days of Deals program.

Though the success of this campaign is extraordinary, the principles behind it can be used by businesses of all sizes … Keep reading

As fall begins in Chicago, I’m reflecting back to September 2006 when my partner Chris and I started the company that would become Signal.

Our goal was simple – build easy to use, web-based products that solve everyday problems people have in running their business. We chose to initially focus on text messaging, as we thought it was a communication channel that was ripe for innovation. Competitively there were already plenty of players in the space but our analysis pointed to a big problem for businesses in finding a company to work with and get started. There just wasn’t a single company that did a great job of articulating the potential of SMS in a thoughtful, easy to mentally consume … Keep reading

Being included 108th on the Inc 500 Fastest Growing Company list this week is quite the honor, but that’s not the only news:

Signal is launching a freemium version of its cross-channel marketing platform, giving small-to-medium-sized businesses access to tools used by some of the biggest brands in the country.

We’re very excited to democratize our enterprise mobilesocial and email capabilities giving 5 years of product innovation to small-to-medium-sized businesses (SMBs) at a very low cost.  The changes we’ve made will provide a vast number of SMBs access to mobile, social, and email marketing in a single platform – best of all we offer a Free Plan.  The benefits to SMBs of using a single hub include … Keep reading

I’m excited to announce that Signal has made the Inc 500|5000 list of fastest growing companies in the US, ranking #108 in our first year on the list.

I’ve been a cover-to-cover reader of Inc. magazine for over 15 years. I remember poring through the Inc. 500 list in college, admiring the companies listed for having created something substantial enough to be recognized as one of the fasted growing companies in the US.

So when we learned that we’d made the Inc. 500 list in early August, I was ecstatic.

I’ve never opened a package with more anticipation than the one that arrived at our office last Wednesday from Inc. Magazine. In true geek fashion, I’ve posted some photos … Keep reading
